A neighborhood ambassador for Genesee Fire Rescue should serve as a liaison between the fire department and the community:

• Serve as trusted representatives and liaisons between Genesee Fire Rescue and neighbors in their assigned neighborhoods or plan units.
• Build and maintain a local network of residents to promote community awareness and preparedness for wildland fire and other emergency risks.
• Educate neighbors on wildfire safety, mitigation techniques (like defensible space and vegetation management), evacuation planning, and general home safety practices.
• Share information about the full range of Genesee Fire Rescue services, including emergency medical response, community paramedicine, fire prevention, and risk reduction.
• Host or lead neighborhood gatherings, safety walks, or informational events to encourage active participation in safety and preparedness efforts.
• Act as the first point of contact for neighbors seeking fire safety or emergency resource information, connecting them to department programs and support.
• Identify barriers to risk reduction in the community and communicate these challenges to fire rescue leadership for consideration and action.
• Encourage community resilience by motivating residents to take proactive safety measures and participate in local fire prevention or health programs.
• Support volunteer recruitment efforts by identifying potential community members interested in joining Genesee Fire Rescue as volunteers.
• Maintain communication with the Ambassador Coordinator and other fire department contacts to stay informed of new initiatives, training opportunities, and resources.
• Provide feedback to help improve the program and better tailor outreach to neighborhood needs.
• Foster relationships with key community partners (HOAs, local organizations, schools).
• Promote community engagement, volunteer recruitment, and broad awareness of fire rescue services.
