Genesee Fire, together with teams from Foothills Fire, Golden Fire, and Highland Rescue, responded to a grass fire on Lookout Mountain on the evening of July 25. Thanks to prompt action from all of these agencies, the fire was quickly contained and extinguished.

July's calls included some of the types of calls we commonly see in the summer months - including vehicle fires and back country rescues on the various hiking trails in the region. We have seen an uptick in smoke and fire alarm calls as well, so please be sure that you are testing your smoke detectors monthly and replacing batteries twice a year!

🛡️ Safety Tips of the Month

We’ve had a relatively wet spring and early summer leading to some rapid growth of our grasses and greenery, but the hot and dry weather is now upon us – and the early season’s growth has the potential to create some additional risk for the remainder of the summer and fall. Please remember the importance of staying on top of mowing grasses and trimming trees and shrubs to stay ahead of the game! Please keep an eye on Genesee’s Current Conditions page for up-to-date fire weather forecasts, air quality, and drought status.
